PHILOSOPHY
Steffi is a progressive ballet teacher who integrates feminist, democratic, ludic, clowning, and critical theory practices in their dancer-centered classes. Steffi specializes in making unusual connections to ballet to amplify its accessibility and diversity.

​ONGOING
Steffi created Renversé Ballet as a virtual resource committed to amplifying diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in the classical ballet industry -- and often teaches free virtual ballet classes for RB's international community (in addition to curating masterclasses by RB's world-class guest faculty).

​UPCOMING
In spring 2025, University of Roehampton will engage Steffi as a Visiting Lecturer for classical ballet. In summer 2025, Steffi will host a series of intensives in Raymond Keane's Four Temperaments Method of theater clowning, which Steffi extends to classical ballet as a game-based approach to nonverbal performance.


RECENT
In winter 2024, Steffi served as Rehearsal Director for re-staging Peter Darrell's Economy in Straitjacket but Still Room for Movement (Scottish Ballet). In addition to performing in seven MFA thesis productions from 2023-2024, Steffi served as Rehearsal Director for colleagues Anthony Wade and Julianne Cerreta.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Steffi is a certified Cecchetti ballet teacher and Progressing Ballet Technique instructor, and has enjoyed 18yrs of teaching internationally. Steffi teaches classical and contemporary ballet, classical repertoire, character, modern, jazz, tap, choreography, and improvisation to all ages and abilities (professional, pre-professional, and recreational). Notable posts include Company Teacher and Choreographer (London, England; San Diego, California), Master Teacher and Resident Choreographer (Dublin, Ireland), Head of Children's Programs (Chicago, Illinois), Director-Choreographer and Ballet Theorist (San Diego, California), and Dance Captain (Rehearsal Director) for a Broadway production of The Wiz (original choreography by Alyssa Ajay Junious, Teatro San Diego).

PRE-PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
While completing a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science (University of Chicago, 2008-2012), Steffi served as Head of Teaching (University Ballet) and Resident Choreographer (University Theater).
